Release dates by platform

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 launched worldwide on August 25, 2026 for Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Both Daybreak's launch announcement and EG7's release notice confirm those four launch platforms and that date.

Nintendo Switch 2 follows a different schedule: its version is officially set for September 29, 2026. Because that date is still upcoming at the time of this guide, Switch 2 players should verify the current storefront or official site before planning a purchase around the scheduled date.

The two Premium packs are not cosmetic-only bundles. Daybreak describes Ripley’s pack as an outfit plus a modified pulse rifle, decals and more; Herk’s pack likewise includes an outfit, a modified pulse rifle, decals and other customization items.

Standard and Premium pricing

The Digital Standard Edition carries a US suggested retail price of $49.99. The 40th Anniversary Premium Edition is $69.99 in the United States. The current US Xbox Store listing shows the same $49.99 base-game and $69.99 Premium purchase prices.

These are US launch prices, not a guarantee for every country or every future sale. Regional taxes, platform pricing, currency conversion and promotions can change the amount shown at checkout, so use the relevant regional store as the final price source.

What the Premium Edition includes

Daybreak's launch announcement says the Premium Edition includes the base game, Ripley's Hive Exterminator Pack and Herk's Mondo Pest Pack. Owners of the Standard Edition can buy the Premium upgrade separately for $19.99.

Rain's Jackson's Star Pack remains a separate $9.99 add-on for either edition. Compare the live store package list before paying so you do not buy the same Premium packs twice or count Rain's pack inside the Premium bundle.

Which edition makes sense

Choose Standard if the base cooperative campaign, class progression and Horde are the purchase you want. Premium costs $20 more at US MSRP and adds the two named packs. Buying Standard and the $19.99 Premium upgrade later is effectively the same launch-price difference before tax, though storefront discounts can change that comparison.

The separate $9.99 Rain pack is an independent decision for either edition. Check the live store page for its regional price and exact contents. The launch notice names the Cryo weapon, Colony outfit, Traits, Perks, Augments, Decals and Colorways; any additional cosmetics or future downloadable content require their own store listing.

One Xbox subscription detail to avoid confusing with the price

The Xbox page sells the game at the listed purchase price and does not mark it as included with Game Pass. Console online multiplayer still requires an eligible Xbox Game Pass subscription sold separately from the game.

That subscription requirement is about console online play, not proof that the game itself belongs to the Game Pass catalog. Players buying primarily for co-op should budget for both the game purchase and any platform subscription their console requires.

Edition contents at checkout

Standard is the complete base-game purchase. Premium adds Ripley’s Hive Exterminator Pack and Herk’s Mondo Pest Pack; the same pair is sold as the $19.99 Premium upgrade for Standard owners.

Rain’s Jackson’s Star Pack remains separate at $9.99. Daybreak lists a modified Cryo weapon, a Colony outfit, Traits, Perks, Augments, decals and colorways, so add it only if those Alien: Romulus-themed items matter to you.

  • Standard: base game
  • Premium: base game + Ripley pack + Herk pack
  • Rain pack: separate purchase for either edition
